The detail that you went into about those women and the health initiative I haven't seen anywhere. Thank you for that. I am livid. Also having surgical menopause at 48 years old I was told I don't need it. My body will still make it somehow someway. These doctors are told what they can do and what they can't do. It's really frustrating. So here I am 68 years old still not on any hormone replacement except for some vaginal cream for bladder health, I thank God I had to scream to get that I don't know if this video came out at the same time that the 10 million women over 60 study was released in April 2024. That is what I have myself armed with to go to my doctor with and try to get them to start helping me .

I suffer from extreme crippling panic and anxiety after being on estradiol only for 2 yrs (no uterus so told didn’t need it)..for much of that time I did ok, but at age 52, fell to pieces mentally…bad dreams, feeling hot in the head, then extreme anxiety. I feel like not using progesterone could be a cause? But, the 100mg capsules hit me like a freight train..am so dizzy, nausea, almost passing out. What to do don’t know. I can sleep, but the anxiety never leaves.

I have been taking HRT for about 3 weeks, including 100mg Prometrium. I have been sleeping great, but do find that I seem to get really tired during the day now, have bloating and I feel like I’m having hypoglycemic episodes (get weak, shaky) until I eat something. Wondering if I just need lower dosage? I’m petite (only weigh about 100lbs), and have had issues with other drugs in the past being too strong for me.

I was prescribed progesterone because my progesterone levels were almost not measurable, and my cycle is all over the place.. And it made me extremely neurotic, depressed, couldn't sleep. I was told it would have to complete opposite effect! And wonder what is wrong with me. So I'm glad I saw this video. Pretty sure I have PMDD, because I feel like a completely unrecognisable person the week before my period.. So what is the solution for people like me? Should we take estrogen instead?

Progesterone was a lifesaver when I stopped sleeping early in menopause (as you mentioned, that was my experience - I stopped sleeping, just stopped), and that lifesaver lasted for a good 18 months (maybe a little less), but the benefit of that as a sleeping aid has definitely worn off and it isn't as effective as when I was first taking it. I have noticed too that anxiety and depression have also crept into my life since menopause took hold, which was all the more noticeable because I've never previously suffered from either. It isn't extreme but it is part of my life now. I had put it down to menopause but perhaps progesterone has had a part to play. This was new information to me so thank you for sharing.

Good video. I will say that over-the-counter topical progesterone has always helped me to sleep like a baby. I don't like the oral progesterone as much because it has to pass through the liver and can be one more thing the liver has to deal with. The topical progesterone will bypass the liver and go straight to where it is needed. I started using progesterone cream when I was 33 years old for bad cramps during my monthly cycle. After taking it daily for 2 months, I never had any more cramping as long as I used the topical progesterone cream on a regular basis. Some doctors will tell you not to take after menopause....BUT I totally disagree. I am 66 years old and I stopped using it for the past few months and I felt like I had a lot more irritability & anxiety and also started having low libido and low sex drive. After feeling like I was going a bit crazy, I started researching progesterone cream and learned that low progesterone will cause those issues in the body. As of today I started putting the cream on again. This time I am going to be using it daily to see if that stops all the issues I am currently having.

Another limitation of this study is that they only analyzed women on oral progesterone. So the 17% increased risk of breast cancer for E2+Progesterone says nothing about the non-oral delivery methods of progesterone. Only those readers that opened up the supplemental link at the bottom of the study saw the details of what were the delivery methods and doses.

Inflammation is caused by negative energy being trapped in the body and not being released. Trauma, stress etc. We all have experienced this in our lives but it’s just ‘normal’. Exercise is good for you because you sweat out the stress hormones that get trapped in your body and cause dis ease. We’ve been taught that the healthcare system is needed to solve our health problems, but it’s just sick care. Not many people understand what is actual health care. Start listening to your body. Bring down your stress levels, get out in nature, meditate, eat as much fresh whole foods as you can. Look at how stressed your job/life is and make some changes. Another big issue is our mental chatter. What are we telling ourselves, what beliefs do we carry around (I’m not good enough etc) you can make changes and you will see positive results. If you’re struggling with anxiety and or depression talk to a therapist. Speaking to someone helps release negative energy too. What you suppress causes dis ease.

I haven’t taken HRT yet, but I’ve been experiencing perimenopause for a few years, am 49. I found it started when we went into lockdown and with my job I couldn’t work which caused stress which upset my hormones. I started having problems with sleep every month a week before I was due on. This lasted months, but then it got worse when I started a new relationship. I’ve since had all sorts of issues from night sweats and brain fog to aches and depression/anxiety and I’ve had bouts of not sleeping much at all for a few months. I’ve been to my GP twice now and talked to her about this and was prescribed HRT! But I can’t bring myself to take it! I’m not one for taking anything unless I really have to and I’m still not sure, especially after reading about problems with HRT. I’ve realised there’s a link between stress and my hormones playing up. I’ve been meditating for years anyway but I’ve started meditating for longer. I go out for walks in nature every day if I can. I have had other stresses over the last few years and have put boundaries in place to help me feel safer and lower my stress. I’ve also been to therapy to help deal with things that have been an issue in my life from childhood. I can see the stresses over the last few years have massively affected my mental health and hormones and was convinced I needed HRT but since I’ve managed to lower my stress my sleep has been better! I’m sleeping through the night most of the time now. My brain fog is still there but other symptoms are ok. I’m still not sure about taking HRT so am holding off for now. I do feel that working on yourself is the best thing. I don’t think we always know how stressed we are and how bad that impacts us especially in today’s environment. We’re all so overworked, overwhelmed, and it’s just called normal.

Been on hrt for two years post menapause, had low testosterone , given compounded testosterone, after 4 months on testosterone, retested , barely raised testosterone and started having bleeds every month for 5 days like , exactly like periods. Was taken off testosterone as doc felt the testosterone was pretty much just converting to estrogen adding to what I’m already taking with estradiol patch, also on 200 prometrium. What in the world!?

At times it was so bad I took a break for months of taking progesterone because i didn’t want to keep going through those side affects . Thank you for making this video!!! Progesterone Intolerance is 100% real and I have it. When I was around 12 years old, about the time I hit puberty, that's when it started. I never realized that my situation was as bad as it was until I was in my late 20s. I started to notice when I was placed on birth control, I would have a roller coaster of emotions all month long. When I stopped taking birth control, I noticed that my issues with feeling like everyone was against me, that life wasn't fair, and I needed to un-alive myself started to happen about 3 weeks before my period. That's when I learned about PMDD, or premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I started to look for answers and help, but several Doctors told me it didn't exist, I was lying, or that the fact that I had other mental disorders (C-PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and anxiety) that was causing my problems. Even after I was diagnosed with PMDD, Doctors still told me it was nothing more than PMS and it has to be something else! I can't even begin to tell you how traumatizing it was to be told your crazy over and over again, lose jobs, relationships, friends and family... I'm now legally disabled. I have had years of therapy to try and understand why everyone leaves, no one believes be, and I constantly feel invalidated or unheard. From 2014 - 2023 I searched for an OBGYN who would help me, male and female, old and young, in two different states - Utah and California, military and civilian Doctors. I finally had enough and started putting together a case for myself of medical journals and videos like yours. This gave me the confidence to be able to tell doctors what was happening. Some doctors became extremely angry and offended, even having me banned from all of their hospitals because I brought in a journal and I was writing in it when they walked in. I finally found someone who would listen, and they told me I was at the point of needing a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. I had been anemic with a heavy 3 month on-going period. I also had a B12 deficiency. I was emailing my doctor's constantly telling them I felt like I needed to un-alive myself! I was then put on heavy antipsychotics. Nothing was working. I slept almost 20 hours a day! My life was gone. I had the surgery in September 2023. I am now 9 month post-op and here's what I'm experiencing. When I woke up from surgery, I instantly experienced a hot flash. My face felt like it was on fire! It burst capillaries in my skin, it was that intense. I was put on Estrogen and that stopped the hot flashes. I was told I had endometriosis that they had to burn off my surrounding organs. My skin has been over producing oil now, causing cystic acne. I'm on spironolactone 150 mg, which helps. But I've had to seriously up my skincare routine to try hard not to break out! My hair also gets super greasy. I have to shower every day when I used to be able to go every other day. I gained 40lbs. I have body dysmorphia, so that one really bothered me. I'm only now starting to lose weight. My gate, or the way, I walk is off. I'm now in physical therapy to gain straighten in my core and realign my entire body. It took me about 3 months to fully be ok being physically intimate without pain. I was approved at 8 weeks, but there were sutures that hadn't actually desolved yet. So it was painful and I bled. Mentally, I'm out of therapy and focusing on discovering who I am. For the first time in my life I actually feel "normal". I'm actually happy with the life I live. I am experiencing some complications, and the doctor who did my surgery won't listen to me. So I have to find yet another doctor. I'm constantly tired. I only get 4 hours of sleep. I'm on several different medications to try and get me to sleep, and they don't work. I have short-term memory issues. I could be mid -thought and my mind will go blank. I could be told something and before I can even finish writing it down I'll forget. I've driven to places and forgot entirely what I was doing or how I'd even gotten out of the house. This one actually scares me... I'm not talking about forgetting my keys, I'm talking about seriously frightened I may have dementia. If there is any research on this, please let me know! 😢

Can you touch on the benefit of Pantethine? I'm on my third month of taking 900mg a day divided into two doses. LDL went frrom 186 to 137. Had my first APOb test: 107. Not on statins, trying to eat healthy; minimal carbs and no fried foods.

I had thyroid Cancer. Totally removed and had radiation. I can't find an endocrinologist in my area. Thyroid issues run in my family. I need help. My GP here doesn't seem to really understand thyroid issues. I live in Kingman, AZ in 86409.

Those enjoying hrt need to remember. When scotus and the reds are done, THERE WILL BE NO HRT because it can prevent a pregnancy.

I just cllicked and sent an email. It felt ao good to be letting all that out with such confidence that..FINALLY, this person knows the struggle and seriousness of being correctly diagnosed and is capable of helping me find the correct treatment & care. The changes that we go through can be drastic and scary. I am not the same person I was 4 years ago, inside and out!

I heard that you have to use also Estrogen when you use estradiol. Is this right?

    • @SimpleHormones

Actually . . . estradiol IS a specific type of estrogen. Estradiol is the most important estrogen made by human ovaries.

Thank you so much for this. I’ve been put on Prempro. It has helped with the sweats, the fog brain, and lack of sleeping. What is your thoughts about Prempro?

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones День назад

@jmail2976 Thanks for watching. I'm not a big fan of Prempro. It's a combination of a dirty, messy estrogen that comes directly from horse pee, along with a progestin (like progesterone only not the same) called medroxyprogesterone. These 2 hormones work for some menopause symptoms. They DON'T help with sleep or mood the way progesterone can. Prempro was used in the Women's Health Initiative and showed a slight increase in breast cancer risk - but that wasn't that big of a deal. The bigger deal is that medroxyprogesterone is problematic on a number of fronts. We have WAY better HRT options now, like estradiol and progesterone, that relieve or eliminate all your symptoms AND protect you from long-term health risks at the same time.

You should add onto the lack of help from my local clinic regarding loss of hormones. I went vegan at about age 60, as before my periods ended late around age 58, they had told me that even though my mother and sister died of their breast cancers and this was most menopausal. But then, I was not given anything but Premarin, which was mess and inconvenient and did nothing for any of my symptoms. When I went vegan, a lot of my symptoms improved out disappeared. My gynecologist told me it was out of the question that I could get HRT because it would increase my cancer risks. The diet I eat alkalizes the body, and cancer cannot grow except if one’s body is acidic. Eating meat was something my mother and sister did all the time, even during their cancers. I have a very hard time sleeping despite that I do use some soy products, just not daily. If I get some hot flashes, I’ll eat whole cooked soybeans and this stops the hot flashes. I find once or twice a week is sufficient for me. It is the brittle bone I am concerned about. I do eat loads of green and dark green veggies both cooked or raw. Just how much I absorb is a question. Sex is quite painful for me. Why doctors hate vegans is beyond me. No high blood pressure or cholesterol, blood sugars are perfect, no heart disease, I am at my right weight, I exercise daily. Yes, I can sure see they are not making money off of me!

But that menstrual chart that is in all the medical text books has a HUGE flaw. There is no unit of measure on the y-axis! The authors of the chart combined an estrogen chart in pg/mL with a chart of progesterone in ng/mL and removed the unit of measure. This is absurd because if that chart wanted to compare progesterone to estrogen, that progesterone line should be 1,000 times higher on the chart to be realistic. Look at it another way: if we use Steve Goldring's optimal level of progesterone of 10 mg /mL and convert it into pg/mL by multiplying 10 by 1,000, we would get 10,000 pg/mL. Now this value can be compared to estrogen because estrogen is measured in pg/mL. Estrogen's optimal level is 75-100 pg/mL. That makes progesterone roughly 100-133x more abundant in the body than estrogen! And it means bHRT therapies should be dosing much higher progesterone than what is commonly done in practice. This has been a COLOSSAL "aha" moment for me and it shocks me just how many misconceptions are out there when discussing HRT.

I have been on oral estradiol for two years but wanted to try the patch. Two weeks on the patch and noticed my hot flashes, insomnia and joint pain returned. I am going back to the gyno office to request to go back on estradiol pills. The patch is way more convenient but not worth the return of my vasomotor symptoms.

I am severely progesterone intolerant. Always have been, even with my own. Same with my mom. Started HRT last December, had the expected response to oral micronised progesterone. My NP, god bless her, recommended using it vaginally. Did that for the first time this cycle and sure enough - it worked. My BBT rose and although it took a solid week after discontinuing (I’m doing it cyclically) for my bleed to start, it did start. VERY limited mood changes, and the physical symptoms weren’t that bad - relatively speaking. I’m actually willing to do it again, so that’s a huge win for me. My NP also recommended optimizing and stabilizing my estrogen before adding in progesterone, really happy we did that.

Thank you for sharing!!! I shared my story in the comments as I am severely progesterone intolerant as well. This month I have a separate holistic doctor that is putting me on compounded progesterone cream (on the skin only the last half of my cycle) , in addition to my estradiol daily. on day two of the progesterone cream and so far so good. Once I hit menopause, I might have to try vaginal. But I will have to get the micronized progesterone capsules compounded because Prometrium is used with peanut oil! And I’m allergic and didn’t realize it until I was using it! how can an FDA approved medication use peanut oil! Turns out a lot of the progesterones are made with peanut oil😮
